The Road Goes on Forever... and the Party Never Ends!

Two Saturdays ago, Brett, Sarah, Justin, and I ventured to the quaint town of Brewton, Alabama to see Robert Earl Keen. He was actually head-lining for the Oakridge Boys, but Keen is the one we wanted to see. To the dismay of a few, we didn't even stay for the Oakridge Boys. It was a very fun day. We left around noon, to be sure we got good seats (it was first come first serve), and boy did we ever. When we got there, I don't think there was anyone under the age of 50 there (no offense to those half a century and older), but that just helps describe the crowd. We also weren't sure if any of them even knew who Robert Earl Keen was, and a few of you may be asking yourself the same thing, but once he started singing, Brett found and sang to the "lone" 50-something lady who knew of and loved Robert Keen. :+) Although Brett's kareoke style singing was entertaining, I actually think everyone in back of us was VERY ready for us to leave. ;+]
BTW: For those who don't know, Robert Earl Keen is a Texas songwriter who is very popular in Texas, and in many, mostly southern college towns!
Since he wasn't singing until 6, and were were there 5 hours early, Sarah and I took advantage of the beautiful day, and close proximity to the down-town area, and we made our way into a few of the shops. We really fell in love with the town. A friend of mine (who is from a town very close to Brewton) had said there was little there, so our expectations were very low. We were pleasantly surprised at what we found, and Sarah and I plan to take a "girls day" and make a trip back!

Brett, getting "set-up" and ready for an afternoon of waiting and listening to various head-liners. These ain't your parent's ol' lawn chairs!

Sarah, before we decided to head out and "explore" the town.Brett and Justin waiting for "the show" to begin. Although they don't look like it, they are having a great time! :+)

I think if Brett could have joined the Robert Earl Keen band that night, he would have!

Brett and Justin, enjoying the very chilly night air, while listening to, The road goes on forever and the party never ends! The look on Brett's face... tells it all!!

I have seen that look several times.

We saw Robert Earl a few months back in Fort Worth. He sucked.
